Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast is situated at the western of Africa with a total area of 322,463 sq km. The Land Boundaries stretches to nearly 3,110 km and the costal lines stretch to nearly 515 km. Ivory Coast is surrounded by Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia and Mali. Ivory Coast is further divided into 19 provinces Agnéby, Bafing, Denguélé, Dixhuit Montagnes, Fromager, Haut-Sassandra, Lacs, Lagunes, Marahoué, Moyen-Cavally, Moyen-Comoé , N'zi-Comoé, Sassandra, Savanes, Sud-Bandama, Sud-Comoé, Vallée de Bandama, Worodougou, Zanzan.

Ivory Coast has the highest population as well as the largest economy of the West African Economic Monetary Union. The economy is largely dependent on agriculture; cocoa and coffee are the two main export crops providing over 40% of the gross domestic product (GDP) for the country. Ivory Coast is the world's largest cocoa producer and the 5th largest producer of coffee. In addition, the country has developed other industrial crops including palm oil, rubber, cotton, sugarcane, pineapple and soya. The main exports are coffee, cocoa, timber, bananas, pineapples, and manganese.

Even though the government has made several attempts to diversify the economy but still it is very heavily dependent on agriculture and related activities engaging roughly 68% of the population. Since 2006, the production of oil and gas has become one of the important sectors of economic activity than cocoa. According to IMF statistics, earnings from oil and refined products were $1.3 billion in 2006, while cocoa-related revenues were $1 billion during the same period.

The best prospect for investors to Ivory Coast is in Agriculture and oil and gas production sector.
